Running records are designed to assess a child's reading accuracy and error types while reading a leveled book. There are 27 leveled readers spanning levels aa through Z. Running record assessments are the most difficult assessments to do and are best performed after having ample training and practice. Retelling rubrics are provided for assessing student understanding of books read. One rubric is designed for fiction books, and the other is for nonfiction books.
